Monty Guitar Tyler Band

The MGT Band hails from New Braunfels Texas about an hour south of Austin. Currently the band plays the first Friday of each month at the Tavern in the Gruene in New Braunfels. The band is made up of Monty Guitar Tyler(guitar and vocals), Shufflin' Sean Williams(guitar), Professor Brett Cline(keyboards and vocals), Melvis Nolte(bass) and Russ Griswald Carey(drums).

Your influences? There are a number on influences that come to mind. Stevie Ray Vaughn is number one but that doesn't mean we only play his style. We try to play with his emotion. Jimi Hendrix is another big influence. The guys in the band each have their own influences which tend to meld into our playing style.

My first love though has to be Austin Texas and sixth street. Austin Texas has it's own attitude and swagger. The musicianship in Austin is incredible with the likes of the Arc Angels, Doyle Bramhall II, Ian Moore, Patrice Pike and many others. On any given night in Austin you can find music that blows your mind....plus it was the home of Stevie Ray.....nuff said.
